Banzai! Hey, that’s me! I’m a 2 yr old black pug. When I came to APARN, I had only the slightest little strip of hair on my back. I was covered in scabs from scratching, and I was suffering with bacterial and yeast infections, because I was infested with demodex mange mites! I had such a severe case, that there were actually mange mites in my poop! Fast forward almost six months, and I have the nice black fur you see in the photos. However, it’s not the luxurious fur of an average black pug. My hair is still sparse in some areas, and a skin biopsy showed follicular atrophy, which means I may or may not get more fur as I continue to get better. I still get medicated baths a couple times a week, and I get daily eye ointment for dry eye (I will likely need this the rest of my life). But overall, I am so much healthier, and I feel great!
I think because I felt so bad for so long, it made me a kind of mellow pug. I am not your average wild and crazy 2 year old pug. I get along fine with other pugs, but I don’t like big dogs. I did have some bite wounds on me when I came to APARN, but they couldn’t tell if they were from bigger dogs or perhaps a coyote. Either one is bad enough!
I am ready to find my Forever Home for Christmas! It would be the best present ever! Remember, no big dogs, but other pugs/small dogs are okay. Also, I need to continue with my medicated baths for awhile yet, and need eye ointment daily. I know I am a big commitment, but what pug isn’t, right? We are rather needy as a breed, you know! So put in the application today, and put my name on it!
***We appreciate your interest in adopting a pug in need. Please respect our process and our time, as we are all volunteers with full time jobs. An application starts the process. We are not able to answer calls with questions about the foster pugs. ***
***We encourage you to come to our adoption events to meet the pugs in person if you are interested in adoption. Again, please do not call regarding the adoptable pugs. APARN is an all volunteer non-profit organization. We do not have a shelter. Our dogs are currently being fostered in private homes generally located throughout the greater Phoenix metro area.***
My adoption fee is $350
